Eila’s Story
Sustaining Impact - A Story of Ongoing Support
After witnessing her sister and friend undergo cancer treatment and hearing her neighbor share his experience with cancer on the radio, Eila was inspired to give back. Now, one of our longest-standing donors, Eila has been supporting others through their cancer journey by making monthly donations to the Northern Cancer Foundation for a remarkable 15 years!
In addition to making significant contributions through her monthly giving, Eila has also volunteered her time with the Ontario Breast Screening Program and the Near the Lake Boutique at HSN. Her generosity has helped ensure that thousands of patients have access to quality cancer care, right here in Northeastern Ontario.
“Everyone knows someone who has had cancer. I donate to give back to my community, so patients can receive the same great care that my sister, friend, and neighbor had, closer to home. Since joining as a monthly donor, I’m pleased knowing I am making a true difference to cancer care in our community, now and into the future.”
- Eila, HSN Foundation monthly donor
She shares that the Finnish concept of Sisu, meaning extraordinary endurance in the face of adversity, courage, and willpower helped her sister and a friend immensely during their Cancer treatments. It drives her to give back and help in any way she can.
With the help of our community, and donors like Eila, we can continue to provide enhanced care for patients through the purchase of life-saving equipment, innovative research, and future capital renovations at HSN.
Our monthly donors make a significant impact by providing a consistent and reliable source of funding that is directed to our highest priority needs, including life-saving research, the acquisition of cutting-edge equipment, and ongoing patient care initiatives.
