Award Eligibility

The Carolyn & Mac Sinclair Award may recognize an individual, group or organization whose leadership and influence bring people together, inspire others to make a difference and create a lasting legacy for healthcare across Northeastern Ontario.

The award may be presented to:

  • An individual
  • A family or family foundation
  • A business, corporation, or organization
  • A current Health Sciences North employee, physician, volunteer, or board member whose philanthropic contributions and advocacy extend beyond their professional responsibilities
  • A posthumous recipient

Additional eligibility requirements:

  • A recipient may receive the award only once.
  • The award may be presented posthumously when an individual’s legacy continues to demonstrate a significant and lasting impact on healthcare and the community.
  • The recipient must exemplify the spirit and purpose of the award.

HSN Foundation employees are not eligible for recognition for work undertaken as part of their employment with the Foundation.

Recipients should demonstrate several of the following:

  • Demonstrate significant and sustained commitment to Health Sciences North and advancing healthcare across Northeastern Ontario.
  • Bring people together around a shared purpose, fostering collaboration, connection and collective action in support of healthcare.
  • Leave a lasting legacy that strengthens healthcare for future generations.

Recognition is based on the overall significance and lasting impact of a nominee’s contributions, with particular consideration given to their ability to bring people together, inspire others and create a lasting legacy for healthcare across Northeastern Ontario. Leadership, advocacy, partnership, community service and philanthropy may all contribute to this impact; however, financial contribution alone does not determine eligibility.
