Baker Tilly SNT invests $50,000 in the future of healthcare at Health Sciences North

Sudbury, ON – For the past three decades, Baker Tilly SNT has consistently shown its support for the Foundations at Health Sciences North (HSN), actively contributing to the organization’s fundraising endeavors. The company recently revealed that it is making its largest gift yet to the Foundations at Health Sciences North – $50,000 in support of HSN’s Capital Redevelopment Campaign!

HSN has a need for growing services to better support its patients in Northeastern Ontario. Through the Capital Redevelopment Campaign, HSN looks to face the issues affecting the health of northerners head-on with an immediate focus on funding Acute Care, Mental Health and Addictions, and Pediatric care in the expansions.

Baker Tilly, having been a long-time supporter of healthcare at HSN, recognizes the regional impact that the Capital Redevelopment will have for the future of patient care across the north, and the need for the community to come together to support access to quality care in the years to come.

“We are proud to make this donation to the Foundations at Health Sciences North,” said Robert Blais, Managing Partner at Baker Tilly SNT. “As a long-standing supporter, we have seen firsthand the impact of the Foundations’ work in our community and beyond. We hope that our donation will inspire others to contribute to excellence in patient care well into the future.”

« Nous sommes fiers de faire ce don aux fondations d’Horizon Santé-Nord », affirme Robert Blais, associé directeur chez Baker Tilly SNT. Ayant soutenu les fondations depuis longtemps, nous sommes témoins de l’effet qu’elles ont sur notre communauté et notre région. Nous espérons que notre don inspirera d’autres à contribuer à l’excellence des soins aux patients pour les générations à venir. »

Though the provincial government covers the majority of eligible costs related to capital expansions, hospitals in Ontario require approximately 25% of capital costs to be funded locally, either through fundraising, municipal government contributions or by the hospital incurring long-term debt.

“We know that HSN was built too small, and we rely on generous contributions like Baker Tilly’s that will help ensure the successful expansion of our hospital,” said Anthony Keating, President and CDO of the Foundations and Volunteer Groups at Health Sciences North. “HSN isn’t just a hospital for patients in Sudbury. As the tertiary care centre across the region, we provide critical and inpatient care for more than half a million people across Northeastern Ontario.”

HSN is recognized as a leader in cardiac, oncology, nephrology, trauma, specialized geriatric services, rehabilitation, and mental health and addictions – an accomplishment that can only be amplified by its plans for capital redevelopment, and through the support of its community.
