POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an exciting time to be joining and building your career at the Foundations of HSN as the Manager, Community Engagement and Event Fundraising, as we have recently seen exceptional momentum and growth. A newly created strategic plan that is rooted in collaboration, growth, and impact has helped guide the organizations in a direction that will support enhancing critical care and research throughout HSN. Our plans are ambitious, because the health needs of the communities HSN serve are significant and important.
Reporting to the Director, Marketing, Communications and Community Engagement, the Manager, Community Engagement and Event Fundraising will play a pivotal role in overseeing and executing all event-related fundraising efforts of the Foundations at HSN.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
SIGNATURE EVENTS
· Provide leadership and oversight of the execution of all signature fundraising events, including, but not limited to; Luncheon of Hope, Rally for Dad and various golf tournaments, inclusive of all aspects of event management: fundraising, sponsorship, logistics, critical path management, budget tracking, volunteer recruitment and orientation, committee preparation, administrative tasks, post-event reporting, and other as required
· Record and track participant and donor interactions in donor database software
· Produce reports and analyze results using donor database software
· Develop strategies to meet ambitious fundraising goals and achieve revenue growth
· Explore and use technology to maximize event-related fundraising revenues and enhance participant experience through online mediums
· Lead the development of successful and innovative new event opportunities including a peer to peer fundraising event
· Develop training plans and resources for event volunteers
· Liaise with Volunteer Services to build the signature event volunteer base
· Assess event success upon completion and develop recommendations for increasing fundraising and enhancing event participant experience
· Work with various internal and external teams to develop all event-related resources as required
COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING
· Develop a robust annual community fundraising plan
· Achieve community fundraising goals
· Build strong relationships with community groups, corporate sponsors, and service clubs
· Build robust strategy to engage local, regional and national corporate supporters (i.e. cause marketing plans and strategies, and employee engagement strategies)
· Nurture existing community partnerships
· Perform research to identify and qualify new community partnerships
· Oversee community fundraising to ensure agreements are in place and fundraising meets strategic goals of all Foundations
· Produce reports and analyze results using donor database software
· Post-evaluation of community fundraising to ensure compliance, and comparison of goal setting to revenue achievement; includes recommendations for future partnerships
THIRD PARTY FUNDRAISING
· Develop a robust third party fundraising plan
· Develop third party event handbook
· Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward third party fundraising partners
· Oversee third party event management including support, guidance and recommendations
· Achieve third party fundraising goals
· Coordinate volunteer needs with Volunteer Services
· Track interactions, produce reports and analyze results in donor database software
· Post-evaluation of third party events to ensure compliance, and comparison of goal setting to revenue achievement; includes recommendations for future events
OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED
· Due to the nature of this role, evening and weekend work may be required.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
· Diploma/Degree in public relations, event management, communications, marketing, business administration or related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
· Proven experience in event planning with a minimum of five years of experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Team player who has a positive attitude with a strong work ethic, who recognizes the importance of the mission of the Foundations
· Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
· Demonstrated experience with Special Events and Community Fundraising
· Ability to work independently and think critically
· Exceptionally organized with an ability to coordinate multiple projects within tightly prescribed timelines
· Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising
· Proven ability to use data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements
· Proficiency with MS Office Suite
· Knowledge and experience with Raiser’s Edge donor database software
· Valid driver’s license and daily access to a reliable vehicle
· Bilingualism would be considered an asset
The successful candidate will be required to obtain a current Police Criminal Record Check.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Standard work week of 37.5 hours, but evening, weekends, and overtime hours may be required.
*This role is required on site at Health Sciences North.
What we offer:
Salary range of $60,000 – $65,000/annum, excellent benefits plan, participation in the Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), and vacation allowance.
