Thursday, May 2nd, the Lougheed Foundation generously donated Smile Cookies and coffee to hospital staff at Health Sciences North (HSN) through the Health Sciences North Foundation, as a way of showing their appreciation for their dedication to providing excellent patient care to those living in our community and throughout Northeastern Ontario.
Recognizing how important the HSN team is, the Lougheed Foundation wanted to lift their spirits with some simple joys: Smile Cookies and warm coffee. It’s a way to bring smiles and a little treat to those who work hard for everyone’s well-being.
“The Lougheed Family has a long and strong relationship with HSN that reaches back to the 1950s when we ran the ambulance in Sudbury. We have been dedicated to the Hospital and Cancer Center since they opened, and we are pleased to lend our support through the Cookie Campaign,” says Gerry Lougheed.
“What defines HSN is not the buildings, it is the dedicated doctors, nurses, professionals, staff and volunteers who provide our community excellence in health care. We are proud to work with these wonderful people and hope the cookies bring them a smile to celebrate all the good they do,” says Geoffrey Lougheed.
The Lougheed Foundation has a history of stepping up to help others. When the pandemic hit in 2020, they donated $50,000 to the COVID-19 Support Fund launched by the Foundations at HSN, to help procure essential equipment for patients. They also made sure to recognize the tireless work of HSN staff by providing them with free coffee, donuts, and breakfasts throughout the pandemic.
“The generosity of the Lougheed Foundation shows they’re committed to supporting healthcare in our community and recognizing the amazing efforts of those who contribute,” said Anthony Keating, President and CDO of the Foundations and Volunteer Groups at HSN. “Their ongoing support not only lifts the spirits of our hardworking staff but also helps ensure that we can continue providing exceptional care to our patients. We are incredibly grateful for their dedication to making a difference in the lives of others.”
Health Sciences North Foundation is proud to be one of the recipients of the funds raised during Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Week in Greater Sudbury. The money raised will go towards supporting patient care excellence at Health Sciences North. Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Week runs from April 29 to May 5, 2024.
