Staff Story: Celebrating Kristen St-Onge for National Nursing Week
Kristen St-Onge’s role as a Nurse Clinician for the Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) is incredibly important for the care of older adult patients at Health Sciences North (HSN). With the program returning in 2023, Kristen and her team have been able to make remarkable outcomes to the level of care provided, aiming to keep patients both mentally and physically active throughout their hospitalization, maximize independence at discharge, assist with transitioning from hospital back home, and preventing unplanned hospital readmissions.
“The best part of my job is feeling like I’ve made an impact on patients and families within our community and satisfaction of knowing I’ve helped in some way,” said Kristen. “I have a few nurses in my family whom I would hear stories from and I think that ultimately steered me to a nursing profession. I’m grateful to now have my own stories to share and continue to inspire future nurses.”
This #NursingWeek, we are celebrating Kristen and all nurses at HSN and across Northeastern Ontario for their compassion, dedication, and selflessness to care for those in our community. Thank you to all nurses for the exceptional difference you make to healthcare!
