Health Sciences North Foundation raises funds to support health care excellence through the purchase of equipment, capital projects and the advancement of life-saving research at Health Sciences North for the patients we serve in Northeastern Ontario – for today and for the future. Many of our donors have taken the steps to create their future legacy to support the health of our community.
It is easy to create your legacy for the Health Sciences North Foundation to support the important care and services provided to our community by the hospital.
People often wish that they could impact the future. Charitable giving through an individual’s estate – often referred to as a planned gift – allows a person to achieve their goal of shaping the future.
By creating a gift today for the future benefit of the Health Sciences North Foundation, you can help ensure the financial future of the services and care provided by the hospital that the Foundation supports. Gifts of this kind will also provide tax savings on your estate.
Making a gift is easy. After you make provisions in your estate for your heirs and loved ones, a charitable planned gift may be the right option for you to create your future legacy for the Health Sciences North Foundation.
Most planned gifts are bequests in a Will and are created by adding a codicil to an existing Will or including a gift in the preparation of a new Will. Often lawyers will include the codicil in a Will without any charge. This is especially true if specific wording is provided.

You will not reduce your family’s share of your assets by this form of giving because you provide the funds through premium payments out of your current income.
A meaningful contribution can be achieved through the gift of life insurance. This cost-effective method of donating to Health Sciences North Foundation can create a future gift that is considerably larger than many donors would have been able to make during their lifetime.
