2024-2025 Community Impact Report

On behalf of the Health Sciences North Foundation and our dedicated staff and volunteers at Health Sciences North (HSN) and Health Sciences North Research Institute, we are proud to share our 2024 – 2025 Community Impact Report, celebrating the incredible achievements we have collectively reached for our region.
Thanks to you – our generous individuals, organizations, and business leaders – we were able to invest $4.4 million directly into patient areas at HSN in the past year alone. Your support fueled advancements in innovative equipment, vital capital improvements, cutting-edge research, and essential training for the next generation of healthcare professionals, making life-saving changes for our patients across Northeastern Ontario.
Last year marked a pivotal milestone with the amalgamation of the Northern Cancer Foundation and NEO Kids Foundation under the singular banner of the HSN Foundation. This strategic move created one unified, stronger organization, allowing us to streamline operations and direct more of each precious dollar to frontline patient care, research, and education.
We are doing just that. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we raised $12.2 million (net lottery). Your support has directly enabled significant investments in vital areas such as cancer care, elevating pediatric and mental health services, and advancing cardiovascular care. Furthermore, we have reserved over $40 million for future projects, ensuring the continued growth and excellence of HSN.
Our ultimate goal remains ensuring patients receive advanced care closer to home, throughout our vast region, and we are profoundly grateful for your help in achieving this. We deeply appreciate your leadership, your generosity, and your unwavering support of the HSN Foundation and our tireless work to improve the health and well-being of our community.
